beers and thank yous

just a couple of quick thoughts from me tonight.

1. when do you think the urge to thank my bus driver will disappear? In Portland it is com
mon and habitual to thank the driver for a safe journey. Here, the driver sits in a little plexi-glass box and there is zero interaction. Perhaps indicative of the culture, as I have observed it so far. Quite a bit of the "leave me alone" mentality.
2. beers. i've been craving a dark beer. of course there is guinness, and a pint of that is always
very nice. however, where is my fine selection of deep rich delicious porters? not really a common thing here. chris says it is because they are all ales here. perhaps, but i miss my thick, wintery, drink it with a spoon porters that portland oozed.

last but not least, we ice skated yesterday at kew garden & lo
oked at some beautiful plants. it definitely warrants a trip back in the spring and summer, but it was a treat even in the leafless season. they have a lot of glasshouses with plants from all over the world & a tree top walk.  chris showed me how well he can ice dance & i didn't even bust my a*s once.

I am going to walk to the fridge and pull out a Jubelale to dedicate to y'all. Not even a dark Belgian to be found?
