we've got bigger issues to deal with. we've got some scary, gross black mildew/mould growth in our bedroom. could be why my lungs feel like crap. or at least contribute to it. the diesel stink outside definitely isn't helping. air quality and plastic wrapping are my number one qualms with our new city. we've talked recently about how we use our blog to b*tch about things - so I am going to try to not do that after this post, but for right now I need to sound off.
1. black mould/mildew - trying not to freak out, as the posts i've read here say that the mould (yes mould) is not the lethal stuff in the u.s. so we are going to get some face masks and bleach/air out tomorrow. and get a dehumidifier, which is why we can forget about the vaporiser. we need just the reverse it seems.
2. diesel. where is the biodiesel movement in the uk? i would much rather smell the faint stink of french fries than the thick diesel. and you know they have some fryer grease to get rid of with all these chip shops. bring the bioD soon.
3. plastic wrap - wtf? why are my three peppers in a plastic sleeve? and all the meat in these weird enormous plastic trays? it is really taking a toll on my green karma. we started a food bin delivery service today, so hopefully we have put an end to the wasteful overpackagi
ng that we are experiencing so far. look at how much glorious food we got in our first bin! i almost hugged the driver. all of this for less than 19 pounds, organic, sourced locally first, delivered to our door from a market within 4 miles of our house. YAY! now i hope that when i look in my rubbish bin (yep) the enormous amount of non recyclable plastic wrap will vanish. it makes me think about that woman who tried to go plastic free for a month. sounds like a hell of a new years challenge to me. . . maybe it will restore my green balance. chris would be so excited to get milk in a glass bottle. he is insanely jealous of the neighbor who gets milk delivered every morning in a little glass jug. he sounded so sad when i said the milk from the delivery was just like the jug we get at the store...
good stuff to end on...we are getting a christmas tree tonight. we haven't decided if we are just getting a little live one or what, but i'm pretty excited. we brought some of our favorite ornaments & i am really looking forward to posting photos. don't laugh if it is similar to charlie brown's. also, anyone heard of mulled wine?i'm sure some of you have (ahem, serah). it is all the rage here - i would say of similar caliber to tickle me elmo several years ago. they even have mulled wine air freshners...so don't be surprised if you get one in the mail because i may not be able to resist.
ciao.
